History

Co-owner Georgia Fleming opened the doors to the Warrnambool Honeypot in 1997. Starting off as a small 18 place Centre and now a successful 40 place Centre. Rebecca Perry joined partnerships into the business in 2007 after her journey of primary school teaching for 7 years. Rebecca and Georgia then opened the Koroit Honeypot in 2012 and are currently the only Childcare Centre within Koroit.

Rebecca and Georgia are now successful co-owners and directors of both Warrnambool and Koroit Centre's.

                          Achievement Program

The Achievement Program is a comprehensive framework designed to help create safe places where we work, learn and play. The program provides resources, tools and guidelines that include a whole service approach from educators, staff, children and families, to the wider community and organisations.

The Honeypot was the first Early Childhood service in the Victorian Western District to achieve every health priority area of the Healthy Early Childhood Services Achievement Program.

The Honeypot has been recognised by the Victorian Government for completing all six health areas including healthy eating and oral health, sun protection, mental health and well being, physical activity and movement, safe environments, and tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.

We are proud to display all achieved Health Priority areas at the front of our services.

Smiles 4 Miles

Smiles 4 miles is an oral health promotion program that aims to improve the oral health of children aged 0-5 in Victoria. The purpose of the program is to teach children, families, staff and the wider community the importance of the Smiles 4 Miles 3 key messages, which are:

Eat Well
Drink Well
Clean Well

The Honeypot works in conjunction with South West Healthcare and Dental Health Services Victoria to achieve our Smiles 4 Miles award every second year. Our services have been involved in the Smiles 4 Miles Program for over 7 years now, committing to providing initiatives that encourage healthy eating and good oral health. These initiatives aid to improve health and wellbeing throughout early childhood and later in life.

Nutrition

Children are provided with a healthy environment that embraces environmentally friendly values, allowing children to have access to a healthy range of nutritious meals that meet their daily requirements and explore cultural tastes. Meal times are an enjoyable experience that encourages independence and choice. We demonstrate and encourage healthy hygiene at the Honeypot by displaying procedures and role modelling such habits. The Honeypot uses food menus that are approved by Nutrition Australia.

Kinder Programs

At The Honey Pot in both Warrnambool and Koroit, we offer 3 and 4 year old funded kinder programs. This means the programs are taught by a qualified bachelor trained teacher, for 15 hours per week. Our 4 year old kinder program runs on Monday's and Tuesday's, while our 3 year old program runs Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's. To learn more about our kinder programs follow the services tab above to either centre and read about our incredible programs. You can also download our kinder handbooks on these pages.

Portfolios

At The Honeypot we provide an individual portfolio book for each child. In this portfolio, you will find photos, artworks, learning stories and developmental assessments.

Throughout your child's portfolio you will notice many links to frameworks such as the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), Honeypot's Philosophy, United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and a variety of Early Childhood Theorists. These links allow our planning to be of the highest quality, that aligns with the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Quality Standards.

We hold high expectations of our educators, and our educators take pride in their work, ensuring each child is catered for individually. Each term children are assigned to a new educator to conduct learning assessments. By doing this, we are including a diverse range of perspectives and observations throughout your child's learning journey.

Parents are invited to look through their child’s profile book at any stage. From feedback provided by parents, we have found that families really enjoy looking through their child’s profile book and this is one of the main reasons we continue to provide an individual book for each child. We also send home the profile books at the end of term two, asking for family feedback on our program, and the individual profile book then goes home at the end of the year for the family to keep.
